Customers ordering the HD Pak before May 31 will receive the HD Pak free until the end of June. Our launch date for the HD Pak and Starz! HD is May 1, but we are still awaiting some equipment that may delay that date.

STARZ! HD

Our Starz!/Encore Pak (8 digital Starz! channels and 13 digital Encore channels) will soon include Starz! HD. Current Starz/Encore subscribers need not do anything to add this channel. New subscribers to this package will need to order it ($15.99/mo.).

Expanded TV is required, but you need not order the Digital Variety Pak unless you also want the HD pak.

After years of planning, and the help of the many customers who participated on our community surveys, we are finally able to offer the HD versions of a number of popular TV channels:

The new HD Pak is priced at only $4.99 per month . Expanded TV ($39.99/mo) and the Digital Variety Pak ($11.99/mo.) are also required due to restrictions stipulated by our program sources. We are also offering the Digital Max Pak HD, which includes all analog, SD, and HD channels on the system, for $63.99/mo. (a $16/mo savings over ordering all packages separately).

Cable Box Required

Just like all other cable and personal satellite services, you will need an HD-capable set-top box to receive premium TV such as the HD Pak or the Starz!/Encore pak. Cable boxes also simplify the TV experience by allowing one to navigate seamlessly between analog and digital channels and by an on-screen program guide that appears at the press of a button. •  DCT6200. The basic high-definition cable box ($12.99/mo.).

•  DCT6208. The best bargain – includes a single -tuner DVR ($10.99/mo.).

•  DCT6412. Dual tuner cable box with DVR ($17.99.mo.).

•  TiVo HD. Dual-tuner DVR with lifetime TiVo service included. Unlike the older TiVo's, this unit does not require a cable box because all the cable box functions are built-in. $599 plus tax from Lucas Valley Cable. Requires CableCARD rental (see below) and a connection to a telephone line, the internet, or wireless internet (wireless requires a TiVo wireless adaptor, $60 plus tax).

•  CableCARD. If you already have a TiVo HD or a TV or other device that accepts a CableCARD, these are available for rent at $3.99 per month, each.

Note: While still a good choice for the regular digital paks and analog TVs, the DSR470 that many of our customers already have does not support high-definition programming.
