ANTI-SPAM
If you use extreme care in the sharing of your e-mail address, you may be able to avoid dozens (of not hundreds) of unwanted daily e-mail messages called "spam." But if you are like most e-mail users, the spammers will eventually find you. So must computer users purchase anti-spam programs along with firewalls, anti-virus, and anti-spyware applications.
If you are using Microsoft XP or later and use either Outlook or Outlook Express for your e-mail, we recommend the Cloudmark Desktop for spam protection.

E-mail is POP3 and SMTP, which is the default on most e-mail clients. We recommend that you provide at least 3 MB for an e-mail account--more if you expect to receive large files or are unable to poll the account frequently for mail. When an e-mail disk quota is reach, new mail is returned to the sender with an "Output Error" message. (That's because the mail inbox rejects the message, creating an error on the "output" of the mail application on the server).
It is also important to set your e-mail client so that it deletes the mail on the server after it is successfully downloade to your computer. Mail left on the server clogs the inbox and results in returned mail.
The only non-default configuration issue for sending e-mail is that you should set the outgoing SMTP application so that it provides authentication. The same authentication settions (user name and password) are used for both incoming and outgoing mail. This makes it much more difficult for third parties to use our SMTP server as a SPAM relay.
Web Sites
If you ordered FTP and a website when you specified a username, you are permitted to load files on the server that can be accessed by the public. Normally those are CNAME websites, so if your username is "john" and your server is "lvha.net," the public access would be at http://john.lvha.net. However we can set up your website so that it can be accessed by a custom domain name.
Disk Quotas
You need to make the total quota for a given user name large enough for the combined e-mail and web site. If you need to go beyond your quota, we can arrange that for you at the rate of $0.50 per month per MB.
