iMANAGER ALTERNATIVES You need iManager to change your password, but there are other ways to get mail or move files with a web browser when you are away from home. Many of our customers have had good luck with mail2web.com for mail. For moving files, you can use WS_FTP from Ipswitch if you have a Windows computer. Macintosh users have good results with Fetch from Fetch Softworks.

Using iManagerWhat is iManager? The iManager is a free web-based tool that you may use on any Internet computer with a web browser. Use iManager to:
Starting iManagerStarting iManager depends on which of our servers that your accounts are on:
If we have provided you with a custom domain name, use the Support Page logon to determine which server you are on or check your Installation Information Sheet. Individuals with our Enhanced Servers cannot use iManager for the enhanced servers--use the Control Panel that comes with your server instead. Use the above list, however, to access any non-enhanced accounts that you continue to use. The iManager MenuThe iManager menu will vary depending on the type of account you are working with. User Profile Use this to change the password on this account. Note that this affects only the password for the account you have logged in. To change the password for logging into the Lucas Valley Cable Support Page you need to log in there. Mail Manager Read and delete messages, compose and forward messages, etc. (Not present on accounts with no e-mail component.) File Manager Navigate your file storage and/or web site area and upload files. If the account is a web site, your Internet files are in the folder "htdocs" (Not present on accounts with no file or web component.) Preferences Set your default menu, your language preferences, and any applicable file and/or mail preferences. Note: Be aware of your mail and FTP quotas (if you've forgotten what you had ordered, you may see them by logging into the Support page). If your quota is small, be sure to avoid saving outgoing mail on the server and delete incoming mail frequently. Otherwise people sending you mail may get "mailbox full" error messages. You may use your favorite mail client or FTP program as an alternative to iManager if you wish. An Important Word about PasswordsWhen we set up new e-mail accounts, we use "strong" passwords. A strong password is one comprised of random letters and at least one number. The very nature of strong passwords is that they are hard to guess or figure out. You are free to use iManager to change the password we assign but, if you do so, please use another strong password. Using a trivial password not only allows others access to your e-mail account but also gives spammers an easy entry point to our outgoing mail server that lets them to use our server to send thousands of malicious mail items to unsuspecting third parties. Here is how that happens: The username and password that is assigned to your account is also used for outgoing mail. When a spammer can guess your password, that means that he can address a large number of spam items by making them blind carbon copies of a single message sent to our mail server with your authorization credentials. Since you will probably not be among the addressees, you will not even know that this is happening. The only way we can stop this problem is to wait for a complaint from an outside mail service. When we get that complaint we have to search our mail logs to locate the account that is being abused. We can then put a stop to the abuse by changing the password to a strong password and notifying the owner of that account of the change. Please help by avoiding easy to guess, "weak" passwords.
