NEW LOWER RATES The new rates shown in the table at the right were made possible by our investment in fiber optic connection to the Internet. This connection is far more efficient and reliable than the old, wired connection. In keeping with our charter to offer superior service at below-market rates, we have decided to pass on our savings to our customers. The new rates are effective on April 1, 2007. ORDERING We need you to complete an order form to initiate Internet service. The form is available by request or may be downloaded. Page 1 Complete the first page of the order form by selecting your Internet Plan and determining the equipment that you will need. Calculate tax on taxable items, total the amount, and prepare a check. Page 2 Server features, such as e-mail, custom domains and web sites, are entered here. If you don't any server features, just check the appropriate box and go on to the next page. If you are like most of our customers, you will want at least one e-mail address. Begin by deciding which of our two servers that you want to use for those features: lvha.net or lucasvalley.net. This choice is a matter of personal preference; it will be the part of your e-mail address to the right of the "@" sign. The next step is the picking server "usernames" that you might need. These form the part of an e-mail address to the left of the "@" sign, so you will need one per e-mail address. You may enter any name up to 16 characters (no decimal points, underscores, or capital letters). Use the wizard below to ensure that you pick an account name that is not already assigned to another customer. Most usernames are just used for e-mail, however you may also use a username for hosting one or more web sites. These are the options:
You also need to divide your 200 MB server memory quota among your accounts. Between 10 MB is adequate for personal e-mail accounts, but you may need more if you expect to receive large files or plan to check for e-mail infrequently. Web site quotas need to be large enough to hold all the web files. The total quota for all usernames should equal the available quota for your plan. Page 3 Be sure to read, sign, and date the Terms and Conditions of Use on the third page.

NEW! Lower-Priced Internet PlansOur Internet plans are changing. We have added an additional speed option, have made wireless available on all plans, and have discounted all plans for accounts using our Expanded TV service or better. Five speed ranges are now available:
*These plans are intended for multiple-computer homes or homes using the Internet for such devices as TiVo and Internet telephony. In addition to a fixed IP address, they include baseline privacy on the cable and provide the special Quality of Service (QoS) processing required for Internet telephony (VoIP services such as Vonage, Sun Rocket, SKYPE, and various audio/video chat applications). All fixed IP addresses need to be coordinated with our Support department to ensure that these QoS settings are activated. New subscribers to these plans are entitled to a free router (1-year commitment required.) To see how your present Internet service has migrated to an equivalent plan, please click here. Wireless PlansAny of the above plans may be installed as Wireless. Due to the much higher support costs for wireless installations, however, there is a $4 per month Wireless Surcharge that has the following benefits:
If you wish to install and maintain your wireless system yourself, you need not select this option. Be sure to set up wireless encryption, however, to comply with the terms of our Terms and Conditions of Use. There is no initial charge to install a wireless plan with a wireless router. We have found, however, that many homes are laid out in such a manner that a wireless router is not the best choice. If those circumstances apply to you, we can install a separate wired router and wireless access point with PoE for an additional $100 one-time charge. E-Mail and Web Sites: Server FeaturesLucas Valley Cable provides two servers to provide optional POP3 e-mail accounts and web sites for our customers. The two "free" server domains that correspond to our two web servers are "lucasvalley.net" and "lvha.net" and are functionally equivalent so you are free to choose either one. The server that you select determines your default e-mail and web site addresses, but you can order custom domain names if you wish. Finally, for users with unusually large server needs, we offer enhanced servers at very attractive rates. Customizing your Internet PlanDomain NamesSome users, especially business users, require a custom domain name. We can order one for you or you can request that we support a domain name hosted elsewhere. Advanced ServersIf you are hosting a large web site and need a very large amount of server space, we can provide you with an advanced server. Our advanced servers require a custom domain name (see above) and allow you to configure your own e-mail addresses. Home NetworkingInternet plans that distribute computers and other devices (e.g., Internet-ready DVR's) around the home are most secure when connected with a wired network. Our rates for home Internet and TV wiring are very reasonable. Visit our Home Wiring page.
