SOLAR OUTAGES

Every Spring and Fall the mid-day sun passes directly behind the various geostationary satellites that deliver most of our television signals, temporarily overpowering them. Television reception is lost when this happens.

The precise dates and times of the outages that result can be calculated. The table at the right has the information for the current solar outage season:
